Family Advocate

A Family Advocate supports families by connecting them with resources, promoting child and family well-being, and helping parents engage in their child’s education. They complete enrollment, assits with recruitment, maintain documentation, conduct follow-ups with families as it relates to the child’s health status and collaborate with staff to ensure children and families receive needed services.

Special Need Assistant (SNA)

This position was established for the purposes of providing support services for children with disabilities as well as parenting support and resources to families in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards, Services to children with disabilities and Early childhood development services. Minimum requirement is a CDA. AA degree in special education, early childhood education, child development, psychology, or other closely related field in Special Education degree and/or education preferred.

Early Head Start Teacher

This position serves a teacher in a classroom of Early Head Start infants and toddlers by planning, implementing, and supervising all center-based activities.

Minimum requirement is a current Child Development Associate (CDA) with infant/toddler endorsement or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development. 

Head Start Teacher

This position works as a part of a teaching team to work as a partner with the Assistant Teacher in developing activities for preschool (Head Start) children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment.  Assistance is given to the teacher in carrying out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. This position works with families to promote parent involvement in the program. This position may be assigned additional duties based upon program need and areas of developing expertise. This position works along with the Assistant Teacher to attain the goals of the program.

Current minimum qualification is a baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or in process of completing a baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.  Some experience working with preschool age children.

Assistant Teacher

This position works as a part of a teaching team to work as a partner with the Teacher in developing activities for preschool (Head Start) children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment. Works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. Assistance is given to the teacher in carrying out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards.
